She is writing a book about new forms of Islamic media and the religious contention they provoke against the backdrop of Egypt\u2019s 2011 revolution. Her research and writing have been supported by numerous national grants and fellowships, including from the American Council of Learned Societies, the Social Science Research Council, the National Science Foundation, the Wenner-Gren Foundation for Anthropological Research, and the Fulbright-Hays Program. Her publications include articles in<em>\u00a0Cultural Anthropology, Public Culture, Comparative Studies of South Asia, Africa and the Middle East\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>Middle East Report,\u00a0<\/em>among others. She is also a documentary filmmaker and a former member of the Michigan Society of Fellows.
