He holds a PhD in Islamic legal theory from the University of Durham (2013). Ali-Reza is also a research associate at the University of Oxford and honorary fellow at the University of Nottingham following academic positions at both institutions. He is author of <em>Moral Rationalism and Sharia: Independent rationality in modern Sh\u012b\u2019\u012b u\u1e63\u016bl al-fiqh<\/em> (Routledge, 2015) and co-editor of <em>Visions of Shar\u012b\u02bfa: Contemporary Discussions in Sh\u012b\u2019\u012b legal theory<\/em> (Brill, expected 2019). Ali-Reza\u2019s core research interests lie in the relationship between Islamic theology, legal theory, and ethics in <em>Sh\u012b\u2019\u012b<\/em> thought.
