Dr. Anthony Petro is an associate professor in the Department of Religion and the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program at Boston University. His research focuses on religion in the U.S., medicine and public health, and gender and sexuality. His first book, After the Wrath of God: AIDS, Sexuality, and American Religion, examines religious responses to the HIV/AIDS crisis in the U.S. His next book, Provoking Religion: Sex, Art, and the Sacred in the Modern United States, examines public debates about sexuality, art, and religion at the height of the U.S. culture wars
