Dr. R.Santhosh teaches Sociology at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Madras, India. He holds a doctorate in sociology of religion and his research interest primarily revolves around questions of religious articulations in the context of late modernity. He primarily works on Islamic religiosity in contemporary India, with special focus on themes related to polit-ical mobilizations, theological contestations and engagement with ideals and practices of Indian secularism. He also has keen research interest in emerging forms of political mobilization, iden-tity questions and spiritualities within Hinduism. His articles have been published in journals such as Economic and Political Weekly, European Journal of Cultural and Political Sociology and so on.
